On Friday, May 24th, the rapidly rising, anything-but-sluggish Lazy Rich brings his gut-wrenchingly intense and audaciously epic house music to SF for his Vessel debut.

Unlike the name suggest, Lazy Rich is an industrious and untiring studio junkie, a full time touring DJ, and a computer savvy brainiac, nothing short of a hacker-nerd. In addition to being one of the most respected electronic music producers of the past few years, Rich runs a highly regarded electronic indie label Big Fish Recordings, and is the founder & programming brains behind Label-Engine.com, a cutting edge label management and music distribution software.

The UK native, now residing in Canada, has produced over 140 originals and remixes, enough for a lifetime for most, but Lazy – as most like to call him – is just getting warmed up.

As a forward thinking leader in the ‘Electro-House’ genre, and credited as a pioneer of ‘Complextro’, Rich has gained remix and collaboration opportunities with the likes of Lady Gaga, Avicii, Fatboy Slim, Deadmau5, Chris Lake, Steve Aoki, Morgan Page, Zedd, Porter Robinson, and Record support from a long list of EDM heavyweights.

Outside of the studio and on the stage, his ability to read the crowd and respond with precision sets him apart as a DJ’s ‘DJ’… And on Friday, May 24th, the rapidly rising, anything-but-sluggish Lazy Rich brings his gut-wrenchingly intense and audaciously epic house music to SF for his Vessel debut.

Steve Smooth, our man in Chicago, the home of house music, comes back to his spiritual home of San Francisco on Saturday, May 25th.

On Thursday, May 30th, Berlin house maven, Hector, makes a very rare stateside stop in San Francisco for his BASE debut at Vessel.

Thursday, May 30th
10pm – 2am

BASE w/

HECTOR (desolat)

Effortlessly balancing his will to experiment with a commitment to the founding spirit of house, Hector has rapidly established himself as one of the most exciting young producers and DJs on the planet. From Fabric London over to Playa Del Carmen via Ibiza back to his current home base of Berlin, mixing up styles and moods but always focused firmly on the dancefloor’s needs and desires, his selections nod to house music’s past but engage fully with its future; his sets have energy, precision and soul.

Hailing from Guadalajara, Mexico, Hector took to the decks at the age of 16 after experiencing sets by visiting European DJs. Inspired by the likes of Carl Craig, and Moodymann, he soon realized that his future lay in music. After a strong start with a residency at one of Mexico’s premier clubs, Hector headed to London and fell in love with city’s unmatched music scene. Spinning during Ibiza’s summer season, he befriended Simon Rigg, head of Phonica Records – the nucleus of London’s house and techno community – and started working at the Soho store upon his return to the UK. Hector’s knowledge and infectious passion for cutting-edge music transformed him into one of the shop’s most recognizable faces, and he was the first producer to launch Phonica’s in-house label in 2009.

Fast forward several years and Hector has notched up a string of high profile releases including his breakthrough, “La Raza” for Dinky’s Horizontal imprint, the Piano Hispano EP with Pablo Cahn, and Hispanic Causing Panic for 8bit — causing a stir among high profile DJs worldwide. He’s clearly no slouch in the production department — with additional releases on 20:20, Tsuba, Saved, and One. But it was his work for Mobilee, the defining Berlin imprint where Hector made his mark with “Got Fringe”, a complex, stomping, vocal-fueled percussive pair of tracks that fuses slower house tempos with an irresistible Latin swing.

On Thursday, May 30th, Berlin house maven, Hector, makes a very rare stateside stop in San Francisco for his BASE debut at Vessel.

Raised in a family with a musical taste steeped in rich Mexican culture, Victor Hugo Ramos was born with rhythm in his veins. At the pivotal age of 16, he would sneak into house and techno clubs in Tijuana to soak in the waves of early inspiration. Driven by a beat he could not ignore, Victor bought his first DJ setup and began mixing songs that were making an impression on him, regardless of genre. This forward-thinking mentality would soon become crucial in the development of the Harvard Bass sound.

With the creation of Bump City Records, Harvard Bass is extending his brand to other talented producers and ensuring that the scene stays fresh with creative ideas. Constant praise pouring in from respected DJs such as Dubfire, Richie Hawtin, Boys Noize, Tiga, and DJ Pierre salutes the burgeoning musical niche that is taking form, with Harvard Bass at the forefront. With talent and a tenacity to succeed, Harvard Bass has been cemented as a force to be reckoned with in House, Techno music and beyond.
